Wall Mount Lamp from a Used File Cover

Instructions for Lamp Design in PDF format [Download Link]

Many thanks to Ether Design for sharing this with us, the first one to make this on their own and post pictures of the same will get mad e-props from me.

This wall mount lamp looks like its easy to make, and easy on the eye too.

A couple of years back, when we shifted to our new apartment, I found it hard to get a lamp that I liked. The popular lamps were too ornamental. The geometric ones were too cheap-looking and the electrical fittings were pretty sad.

Overworked as we were, cleaning up and organizing, I thought we should do some temporary arrangement till we buy our dream lamps. This really forced me to think simple.

Although it took a nice 3-4 hours to really think this through, I could fix all the 6-8 lamps in half an hour! This eventually became a permanent arrangement and a lot of friends decided to implement it in their homes too.

Hope you think this is worth the effort. Sincere apologies for two things 1. Using electric bulbs rather than CFL’s, especially when we are talking of recycling 2. Bad quality pictures especially since we are a design house!

iFixit’s E-Waste Page:

Maintaining and repairing devices dramatically improves their usable lifespan. If we worked together and doubled the length of time the average piece of electronics was used, we could halve the amount of e-waste created. If we take care of our devices and fix them when they break, we can do a lot better than that.
You have a responsibility to humanity to keep things working as long as possible and to dispose of them properly. Being responsible is easy: Sell or donate stuff you no longer need to people who can reuse it. Repair things you can still use, and recycle it when there’s no use left.
